Professional Doctorate Technology & Digitalization

Room 210

Organisation: HU

Speaker: Guido Ongena

Taking the lead in applying state-of-the-art technology and digitalization is crucial for the Netherlands in building a sustainable industry and fostering a prosperous society. This necessitates an agile labor market and a future-proof workforce capable of addressing complex societal challenges such as climate change and an aging population. The Dutch Top Sectors, in their roadmap, underscore the ambition and urgency of integrating work, learning, and innovation. This integration ensures that innovations yield faster practical results, and society can benefit from their application.
In the Professional Doctorate Technology & Digitalization (PD T&D) pilot, Dutch universities of applied sciences (UASs) embrace this challenge. PD candidates conduct research, starting with complex practical issues, to explore available technological knowledge and develop it into high-quality interventions and applications in the professional field. This pilot is a collaborative effort involving HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, the University of Applied Sciences of Amsterdam, Saxion University of Applied Sciences, HAN University of Applied Sciences, and Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen.
