Track description
Our modern society and competitive economy depend on a strong digital foundation of sustainable computer systems research, education, and innovation. The CompSys community (https://www.compsys.science/) focuses on the interests of the Netherlands’ academic institutions, research labs and organizations, and research-oriented societal stakeholders in computer systems and networks. As outlined in the Future Computer Systems and Networking Manifesto, and aligned with the 6G FNS national growthfund project, this track focuses on building a sustainable and inclusive digital infrastructure that addresses societal needs while reducing environmental impacts. This ICT.OPEN track will focus on cutting-edge societal challenges from these four perspectives:
- Sustainability and translational CompSys: How to responsibly and positively empower science, engineering, and societal applications, sustainably?
- Usability: How can we ensure that digital infrastructure is accessible, user-friendly, and adaptable to the needs of diverse populations, particularly in underdeveloped regions?
- Trustworthiness: Exploring parallels with responsible AI, how can we establish a responsible computer infrastructure that prioritizes privacy, ethics, security, performance, availability, and durability?
- Bridging the Digital Divide: How can we expand reliable and affordable digital connectivity to remote and underserved communities, ensuring equitable access to critical digital services?
The program for our track will feature an invited keynote speech and consist of demos, posters, and oral presentations from your submissions. We aim also to provide a space to build bridges with the ethical next-generation scientists and engineers.
Given the importance of the sustainability of digital infrastructures toward a sustainable future, we also would like to point to the track “4TU.NIRICT: Sustainable ICT in the Netherlands” for your potential submissions.
